Uses

Palmitohydrazide, as an acylhydrazide compound, has a wide range of applications, mainly as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate.

Synthesis

In a three-necked flask fitted with a magnet, 284 g of ethyl hexadecanoate and 75 g of 80% hydrazine hydrate were added, and a thermometer and distillation column were fitted. The three-necked flask was heated and stirred, and refluxed for half an hour, and the by-products ethanol and water were distilled out when the temperature at the top of the distillation column reached 80. Control the temperature of the reaction system at 100-120 , the temperature of the top of the distillation column at 75-85 . The reaction was completed in 6 hours, stop heating and stirring. After the completion of the reaction, decompression distillation was carried out to evaporate the excess hydrazine hydrate, water, and a small amount of ethyl hexadecanoate to obtain 261.9 g of palmitic acid hydrazide product with 97% yield.
