Uses

α-Isocodeine produces a decrease in rhythmic frequency and increase in rhythmic amplitude, peristalsis and tone of dog ileum. Also, it is an intermediate used in the synthesis of O6-Methyl-7,8-dihydro-6-isomorphine (M302150), which is an impurity of Hydromorphone (H714650), an analgesic (narcotic).
