Centhaquine citrate Chemical Properties,Usage,Production
Uses
Centhaquine Citrate (trade name: Lyfaquin) is an α2B adrenergic receptor agonist used to treat hypovolemic shock caused by blood loss.
Mechanism of action
As an alpha 2B adrenergic receptor agonist, centhaquine citrate increases blood vessel tone by activating specific receptors, thereby helping to maintain blood pressure during shock.
Pharmacokinetics
Centhaquine citrate reduces blood lactate levels, increases blood pressure, increases cardiac output, and improves tissue perfusion.
Synthesis
Styrenyl quinoline (57) and piperazine (58) were mixed in ethanol and acetic acid and heated under reflux. After the reaction, the product was purified by aqueous workup. Centhaquine was isolated by recrystallization from n-hexane. The isolated centhaquine was then converted to its citrate (VIII) with an overall yield of 66%.
