Chemical Properties

White crystalline powder

Uses

trans-3,4,5,4'-Tetramethoxystilbene is an impurity of Resveratrol (R150000). Resveratrol is a minor constituent of wine, correlated with serum lipid reduction and inhibition of platelet aggregation. Resveratrol is a specific inhibitor of COX-1, and it also inhibits the hydroperoxidase activity of COX-1. It has been shown to inhibit events associated with tumor initiation, promotion and progression.

Biological Activity

(E)-3,4,5,4μ-Tetramethoxystilbene (DMU 212) is a derivative of resveratrol with anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor properties.

in vivo

DMU-212 (50 mg/kg; i.g.; three times a week; for 14 days) inhibits tumor growth in xenograft model of human ovarian cancer[2].

Animal Model:6-weeks-old SCID female mice (20-24 g), with ovarian cancer xenografts[2]
Dosage:50 mg/kg
Administration:Oral gavage, three times a week, for 14 days
Result:Lowered tumor burden.
