Description
Odoriflavene is a phenolic compound found in the root heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen (Leguminosae). It has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation and is used in research for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease and blood disorders.
Uses
Odoriflavene is a phenolic compound found in the root heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen (Leguminosae)[1].
Biological Activity
Odoriflavene has antioxidant properties. Studies have shown that it inhibits fatty acid oxidation by inhibiting carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1) and carnitine palmitoyltransferase-2 (CPT-2). It also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species and has an inhibitory effect on the decrease in glutathione levels induced by UV irradiation. In addition, it is cytotoxic to the SH-SY5Y cell line in vitro.
