Chemical Properties

Tan powder; amine odor. Soluble in benzene, chloroform, gasoline; insoluble in water, 10% caustic, carbon disulfide.

Uses

Tetraisopropylthiuram disulphide has been used:

  • for incorporation of a thiol equivalent into heterocyclic compounds, by reaction with appropriate lithiated heterocycle
  • in preparation of unsymmetrical sulfides
  • as extractant for silver (I) extraction from photographic fixing solution

Uses

Rubber accelerator.
