Description

Flutropium bromide is an antitussive useful in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and in the symptomatic relief of bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis. Recent studies suggest that flutropium bromide may have potential as a long-acting alternative to P-sympathomimetics or the xanthines in the prophylaxis of obstructive airways disease.

Chemical Properties

White crystals from acetonitrile, melting point 192-193°C: (decomposition); crystals from ethanol-acetone, melting point 198-199°C (decomposition). Acute toxicity LD50 male and female mice, male and female rats (mg/kg): 12.5, 11.0, 16.4, 18.4 IV; 760, 810, 830, 740 oral.
