Uses
U 82836E is an iron-dependent lipid peroxidation inhibitor. This free radical scavenger has potent neuroprotective effects against ischemic injury and diabetic neuropathy.
Biological Activity
Free radical scavenger and antioxidant; second generation lazaroid that inhibits iron-dependent lipid peroxidation (IC 50 = 1.5 μ M). Displays neuroprotective activity in a mouse head injury model (MHI) and causes a reduction in cyanide-induced cell death in rat cortical neurons.
