Application

(Isoquinoline-8-yl)methylamine dihydrochloride can be used as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate and an organic synthesis intermediate, mainly in laboratory research and development processes and chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis processes.

Synthesis

To a solution of 0.8432 g (4.58 mmol) of 8-(azidomethyl)quinoline in 20 mLEtOAc was added 0.0880 g of Pd (10% on C). After 19 h at atmospheric pressure under H2, the reaction mixture was filtered through EtOAc with 25 mL of diluted diatomaceous earth. the diatomaceous earth was washed with 150 mLEtOAc and the combined organics were dried with Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuum. Purification by fast chromatography (40 x 140 mm silica gel, linear gradient 5-15% (10% NH4OH: MeOH): CH2Cl2) afforded (isoquinolin-8-yl)methylamine dihydrochloride.
