Hematin Chemical Properties,Usage,Production

Chemical Properties

Dark purple luster fine needle-like crystals or black-brown particles, powder. Slightly special odor. Extremely unstable, easily oxidized. Insoluble in water. Used as iron fortifier, its absorption rate is about 3 times higher than the general iron agent, the iron content of 1.0% to 2.5%.

Uses

Ferroprotoporphyrin IX is a metabolite formed during biosynthesis and is used to evaluate iron nutrition and metabolism.?It is also an iron containing cofactor that is involved with a wide range of cellular functions including oxygen transport.
