Synthesis

(5R)-5-methylpyrrolidmn-2-one is prepared by reacting (5S)-5-(bromomethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one in triethylamine and ethanol hydrogenated over 10% Pd/C catalyst at 50 barpressure.
