Uses

Yttrium(III) bromide is used in electroplating, as catalyst, material enhancing & medical treatments in curing colds.

Preparation

Yttrium(III) bromide (YBr) was prepared by the reaction of the corresponding oxide with an excess of NH₄Br at high temperatures. The product was then heated under a flow of dry nitrogen and subsequently under vacuum to remove any unreacted NH₄Br.
