Uses

Ambucetamide is an antispasmodic found to be particularly effective for the relief of menstrual pain.

in vivo

Ambucetamide (0-30 mg/kg, jugular vein injection) decreases in the amplitude and frequency of contractions in rat-uterine[2].
Ambucetamide (1-10 mg/kg, femoral vein injection) reduces the tone of the uterus and increased the amplitude of contractions in dogs[2].

Animal Model:Dogs[2]
Dosage:1-10 mg/kg
Administration:Femoral vein injection
Result:Showed a decrease in the amplitude of contractions at 10 mg/kg.

Purification Methods

Crystallise ambucetamide from EtOH containing 10% diethyl ether. [Janssen J Am Chem Soc 76 6192 1954, Beilstein 14 IV 2101.]
