GENERAL STEPS: 3-methyl-5-nitro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine (39 mg, 0.22 mmol) and 10% Pd/C (12 mg, 0.011 mmol) were added to a 25 mL round bottom flask. Ethanol (10 mL) was then added and hydrogen was passed into the reaction mixture for 15 min. The reaction flask was stirred under a hydrogen balloon for 4 h. After completion of the reaction, it was filtered through a 0.45 μm PVDF filter. Finally, the solvent was removed to afford 3-methyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5-amine solid (30 mg, 92% yield).
