Uses
Demethyldihydrolanosterol, is a derivative of Lanosterol (L174580). It is also a sterol that activate oocyte meiosis.
Definition
ChEBI: 4,4-dimethyl-5alpha-cholest-8-en-3beta-ol is a cholestanoid that is 5alpha-cholesta-8-en-3beta-ol bearing two additional methyl substituents at position 4. It has a role as a mouse metabolite. It is a 3beta-sterol, a cholestanoid and a tetracyclic triterpenoid.
Biological Activity
4,4-dimethyl-cholest-8(9)-en-3β-ol (Dihydro T-MAS) is a sterol involved in triggering the activation of meiosis in cultured oocytes of mice in vitro. It is an intermediate of the Kandutsch-Russell (K-R) pathway.
