Uses

Uperolein is a physalaemin-like endecapeptide, produced in the skin of Uperoleia rugosa and Uperoleia marmorata. Uperolein has a spasmodic effect on both the gastrointestinal tract and longitudinal muscles[1][2][3].

in vivo

Uperolein (0.1 μg/kg and 5 μg/kg; i.v.; single dose) exhibits stimulation activity on the stomach of the anesthetized rat, displays a noticeable spasmogenic activity on the whole stomach from the fundus to the pylorus^[3].
