It has a role as an apoptosis inducer. It is a 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and an aldehyde. It is a conjugate base of a 1-O-palmitoyl-2-O-(5-oxovaleryl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine(1+).
