General procedure for the synthesis of 4-(4-pyridyl)phenylboronic acid pinacol ester from 4-(4-bromophenyl)pyridine and bis(pinacolato)diboron (1.17 g, 4.61 mmol), potassium acetate (0.745 g, 7.6 mmol) and 1,4-dioxane (10 mL). The reaction system was displaced with argon for 30 min to remove oxygen. Subsequently, Pd(dppf)Cl (0.75 g, 0.05 eq.) was added as a catalyst and the reaction mixture was stirred and reacted at 100°C overnight. After completion of the reaction, it was cooled to room temperature and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phases were combined, washed with water and dried over anhydrous NaSO The solvent was removed by concentration under reduced pressure to give the crude product. Finally, purification by fast column chromatography (combiflash) afforded the target compound 4-(4-pyridyl)phenylboronic acid pinacol ester (1.0 g, 100% yield).LCMS assay: (M + H) = 282.1.
