Description

Zinc borate appears as a white powder of variable composition. (typically 45% ZnO, 34% B2O3 and 20% H2O). Slightly soluble in water. The primary hazard is the threat to the environment. Immediate steps should be taken to limit its spread to the environment. It is used as a fungus and mildew inhibitor, to fireproof textiles, and also can be used for fields such as the daily-use chemical industry and biological medicine.

Preparation

Take by weighing 3.24 gram zinc oxide and 7.24 gram boric acid, respectively; after the mixing, add 6.00g water, modulated into the rheology attitude, change in the encloses container at 80 ℃ of reactions 12 hours, be chilled to room temperature after, take out reaction product, directly oven dry obtains needed zinc borate product.
