Uses

Lipid X is the major monosaccharide precursor of lipid A. It exhibits immunostimulatory and anti-endotoxin properties. Lipid X is nontoxic and has previously been shown to protect mice and sheep from the harmful effects of endotoxin. Lipid X is a novel agent that enhances survival in an animal model of severe infection with gram-negative organisms.

ChEBI: Lipid X is an N-acyl-D-glucosamine 1-phosphate where the N-acyl group is (R)-3-hydroxytetradecanoyl and carrying an additional (R)-3-hydroxytetradecanoyl group at the 3-position. It has a role as an Escherichia coli metabolite. It is a conjugate acid of a lipid X(2-).
