Synthesis

Step 3: (S)-Boc-2-methoxy-1-methylethylamine (955399-15-2) was dissolved in methanol (40 mL) and 3M hydrochloric acid solution (10 mL) was slowly added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure and the residue was co-evaporated with ethanol (20 mL) to afford (S)-2-methoxy-1-methylethylamine hydrochloride as a light brown oil (1.42 g, 100% yield). Mass spectrometry analysis showed the molecular ion peak (M+H)+ m/z = 90.
