The general procedure for the synthesis of 2-methyl-[1,2,6]thiadiazine 1,1-dioxide from 3-methylaminopropylamine was as follows: a mixture of N-methyl-1,3-propanediamine (2.06 g, 23.4 mmol) and sulfonamide (0.748 g, 7.78 mmol) was placed in a microwaveable reaction flask, sealed, and then filled with argon gas for protection. The reaction flask was stirred overnight at 50°C, and then warmed to 160°C to continue the reaction with stirring for 20 minutes. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was concentrated and the residue was purified by column chromatography to afford 2-methyl-1,2,6-thiadiazine 1,1-dioxide (0.82 g, 70% yield).
