General Description

1-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-1-propanol is a secondary benzylic alcohol derivative. 4-hydroxycoumarin undergoes C3 benzylation on reacting with 1-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1-propanol in the presence of hydrated ferric perchlorate (Fe(ClO4)3.xH2O).
