Application
Thiopheneformylmethionine can be used in the field of pharmaceutical synthesis.
Synthesis
Thenoyl methionate was prepared as follows: 5 ml of nonanoyl chloride was added dropwise to a solution of 4 g of sodium bicarbonate and 5 g of 2-amino-4-methylthiobutanoic acid in 100 ml of water. The mixture is stirred vigorously for 24 hours, then cooled and acidified to pH 4. The solution is then allowed to stand for six to seven hours. A solid compound was then formed, which was collected by filtration of thenoyl methionate. Excess nonanoyl chloride is sublimated in vacuo at 130??C (60 mmHg). The unsublimatable amine was recrystallized from the water-alcohol mixture, etc. Crystals with a melting point of 123??C were retained. They are slightly soluble in water and soluble in organic solvents (alcohol, ether, ethyl acetate or acetone). The products obtained were analyzed by red in vitro spectrophotometry. The spectra are given, giving their references: rf1673an and 1029 cm1. .
