It has a role as a PPARgamma agonist. It is functionally related to a nonanedioic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a 1-O-hexadecyl-2-(8-carboxyoctanoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine(1-).

General Description

1-hexadecyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (Azelaoyl-PAF) Azelaoyl-PAF is an alkyl phosphatidylcholine and is a component of the lipid pool within oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) particles. Azelaoyl-PAF is a low molecular weight phospholipid.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Azelaoyl-PAF (1-hexadecyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) is a low molecular weight alkyl phosphatidylcholine. It is a constituent of the lipid pool within oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) particles. Azelaoyl-PAF serves as a high affinity ligand and agonist for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ).
