The general procedure for the synthesis of 2-amino-N-methylacetamide from compound 12a (CAS:21855-72-1) was as follows: 10% Pd/C catalyst was added to a methanol (10 mL) solution of compound 12a (170 mg, 0.77 mmol). The hydrogenation reaction was carried out at room temperature and atmospheric pressure for 3 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by diatomaceous earth filtration and the resulting clarified solution was dried to give 2-amino-N-methylacetamide as an oily product. The yield was 97%. The molecular formula is C3H9N2O.
