Uses

Pine oil is widely used as a frothing agent in mineral flotation (copper ore, lead-zinc ore, and other non-ferrous metal ores, as well as pulverized coal). It is also used as a dyeing and printing auxiliary agent, a pigment wetting agent, an anti-skinning agent in paints, a degreasing agent for sheepskin, a leveling agent in epoxy resins, an anti-foaming agent for protein adhesives in the plywood industry, an animal blood preservative, and a leveling agent in baking varnishes, paper coatings, and enamels. In the United States, the disinfectant and cleaning agent manufacturing industry is the largest user of pine oil, consuming 17,000 tons in 1979.
