Occurrence
Strychnos fendleri yields this alkaloid which has been isolated as colourless needles from AcOEt. It is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D +97° (c 1.4, CHCI3). The ul333 traviolet spectrum in EtOH has absorption maxima at 248 and 278 nm, with a shoulder at 286 nm.
