(3,5-Dimethylisoxazole-4-yl)acetic acid is a carboxylic acid derivative that can be used as an organic intermediate.

Synthesis

(3,5-Dimethylisoxazol-4-yl)acetic acid can be prepared from 2,4-pentanedione and ethyl bromoacetate by first preparing ethyl 3-acetyl 4-oxopentanoate, then shutting down the ring to prepare ethyl 2-(3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-yl)acetic acid, and finally hydrolyzing the ethyl ester to obtain (3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-yl)acetic acid.
