1,2:5,6-Di-O-isopropylidene-D-chiro-inositol has been studied via fragment-based drug discovery to generate Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDH-A) inhibitors. This antitumor agent works by halting the growth of cancer cells by blocking their glycolysis pathway, specifically the nterconversion of lactate and pyruvate catalyzed by LDH-A.
