tributyltin cyanide (TRI-N-BUTYLCYANOTIN) is a reagent for cyanation of halides; can add to aldehydes; catalyst for halosilane substitution.

Preparation

Preparative Methods of tributyltin cyanide: originally from Tri-n-butylchlorostannane and Potassium Cyanide. Modified procedures using 18-Crown-6 or Lithium Cyanide give better yields.
