Meldola's blue Chemical Properties,Usage,Production

Description

Meldola's Blue [7057-57-0], the condensa tion product of nitrosodimethylaniline and naphthol, was described in 1879; it is the old est industrially produced oxazine dye. In 1928, Kr¨ anzlein, Greune, and Thiele discovered the group of dioxazine dyes by reaction of aromatic amines with chloranil followed by cyclization, the triphendioxazine base structure itself being known since 1890.

Chemical Properties

dark green powder

Uses

A dye used in biosensors

Uses

A biosensor for the measurement of lactate in serum has been developed, which is based on a screen-printed carbon electrode, modified with Meldola''s Blue-Reinecke Salt (MBRS-SPCE), coated with the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase NAD+ dependent (from Porcine heart), and NAD+. A cellulose acetate layer was deposited on the top of the device to act as a permselective membrane. This compound is suitable for lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) related research.
