Chemical Properties

Uses

2-Ethylpyridine is used to study its effect on the proliferation and survival of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), HMVECs from lung, and NIH 3T3 cells. 2-Ethylpyridine linked with silica is a popular stationary phase for chiral and achiral separations in supercritical fluid chromatography.

General Description

2-Ethylpyridine, a nitrogen aromatic compound, is grouped under the class of azaarenes. It is generally found as a component of fuels and combustion products.

Purification Methods

Purify it further by conversion to the picrate, recrystallisation of the picrate and regeneration of the free base followed by distillation. [Beilstein 20/6 V 3.]
