Olivomycin Usage And Synthesis
Definition
ChEBI: Olivomycin A is an olivomycin and a secondary alpha-hydroxy ketone. It has a role as an antimicrobial agent.
Safety Profile
Poison by intraperitoneal andintravenous routes.
Enzyme inhibitor
These chromomycin-like antibiotics (FWOlivomycin-A = 1197.3 g/mol; CAS 6988-58-5) produced by Streptomyces olivoreticuli anthat bind to DNA in a base pair-specific manner, preferring Guanine:Cytosine pairs. The major component, olivimycin A, is a yellow solid that is insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol and chloroform. Target(s): DNA-directed DNA polymerase; DNA-directed RNA polymerase; EcoRI restriction endonuclease, or Type II site-specific deoxyribonuclease.
