(+/-)-CATECHIN HYDRATE Usage And Synthesis

Description

Catechin Hydrate (CH) is an herbal polyphenolic flavonoid which can be isolated from a variety of natural sources including tea leaves, grape seeds, and the wood and bark of trees such as acacia and mahogany. It is a strong antioxidant that scavenges radicals.
Catechin hydrate has antioxidative, antimetastatic, anticancer (e.g. cervical and breast cancer), antiangiogenic, anti-osteoporotic, antibacterial, antifungal, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used for the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by oxidative damage. Its inhibition of monoamine oxidase B activity may be used as part of the treatment of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s patients. It is also an Insulin-mimetic compound. Catechin hydrate exhibits certain potential biological effects including cardio protective and neuroprotective effects.
