Preparation
Bis(1,3-diphenyl-2-imidazolidinylidene) is prepared from 1,2-dianilinoethane and triethyl orthoformate[1].
storage
Bis(1,3-diphenyl-2-imidazolidinylidene) can store under dry nitrogen; reagent that has oxidized may be upgraded by washing with CH2Cl2. It readily reacts with protic solvents, e.g. MeOH, and hydrolyzes in the presence of weak acid or basic media.
