Application
Diisocyanate dimer (DDI) can be used to prepare polyurethane (urea) elastomers with special properties, for fabric surface finishing, adhesives and sealants, water repellents for paper, leather and fabrics, wood preservative treatment, and electrical appliance potting. 1. DDI shows promising application prospects in the treatment of fabric water repellency and softening properties. It readily forms stable water emulsions with water, allowing fabrics to maintain their softness for a long time; as a water repellent, it has good water-repellent effect and significantly improves the water and oil repellency of fluoride-based fabrics. 2. Polyurethane resins and polyurea resins made from diisocyanate dimer (DDI) possess good elasticity and ductility, high strength, low water sensitivity, abrasion resistance, chemical solvent resistance, and low-temperature resistance, while also not yellowing. 3. Diisocyanate dimer (DDI) and hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) are compatible and reactive; polymers prepared without plasticizers exhibit lower hardness characteristics than conventional polymers. 4. DDI-based polyurea coatings have good adhesion to metals and wood, do not crack, and exhibit good weather resistance, tensile properties, and adhesive properties.
