Soluble in alcohol and oils.
Very sweet, mild-ethereal odor.
Uses
Certain derivatives of 1,2-Dioxane (cyclic glycol acetals) are used in perfumes and flavors. Dioxane is slightly toxic in its effect upon the human Central Nervous System. It is also flammable and presents a fire hazard.
Production Methods
1,2-Dioxane can be produced by Etherification (dehydration) of Ethylene glycol.
