TETRAHYDROHARMOL Usage And Synthesis
Description
A further carboline alkaloid, this base occurs in the roots of Shepherdia argentea. The ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH shows absorption maxima at 229, 270 and 299 ITIfJ.. One phenolic hydroxyl group and two imino groups are present and the alkaloid is characterized as the O,N-diacetyl derivative which yields colourless, irregular crystals from AcOEt with m.p. 202°C.
