ACRYLAMIDE/BIS Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Acrylamide/Bisacrylamide 29:1, Premixed powder is used for preparing protein DNA gels. It is used as a DNA sequencing gels, Protein separation. They are also used for preparing gels using stock solutions with the most common cross-link ratios.
Uses
Acrylamide/bis-acrylamide, 40% solution has been used in the preparation of temperature sensitive tissue-mimicking phantoms. It has also been used in the preparation of polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis of the PCR products.
Uses
Acrylamide/Bis-acrylamide has been used in the electrophoresis of SSCP (single-strand conformation)/heteroduplex.
General Description
Acrylamide?(AA) is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. It was found in potato products like, french fries and potato chips and also in several cereal-based products. This highly reactive organic compound has the ability to polymerize to form polyacrylamide.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Polyacrylamide gels are prepared using acrylamide and bis-acrylamide, where bis-acrylamide is a cross-linking agent. On the other hand, acrylamide is a water soluble monomer which helps in forming a transparent stable insoluble gel.
