Uses
1-Sulfobutyl-3-methylimidazolium is commonly used as a reaction medium or catalyst in green chemistry, especially suitable for aqueous organic reactions, and can promote the dissolution and activation of polar reactants.
Chemical Properties
1-Sulfobutyl-3-methylimidazolium inner salt is mostly white to light yellow solid or viscous liquid at room temperature with excellent water solubility. The sulfonate in its molecule gives it strong hydrophilicity and certain acidity, and the imidazole ring cation enhances the interaction with anions. As an amphoteric ionic liquid, it is non-volatile, non-flammable, and has the characteristics of an ionic liquid and some of the functions of a surfactant, and its solubility can be adjusted by adjusting the temperature, pH and other conditions.
