Description
6-amino-5-chlorotoluene-3-sulphonic acid is made by sulfonation of 2- chloro-6-methylaniline in o-dichlorobenzene with anhydrous sulfuric acid in vacuo, during which the water of the reaction distills off. Alternative: chlorination of 4-acetylamino-3- methylbenzenesulfonic acid in water and deacetylation. The compound is used as a dye component.
