radium bromide Usage And Synthesis
Description
Radium bromide is the bromide salt of Ra with the formula RaBr2. It is used primarily in separating radium from uranium ore. RaBr2 is a water-soluble, poisonous, radioactive white powder or white orthorhombic crystals that is corrosive to skin or flesh. It melts at 728°C used in medicine, physical research, and luminous paint. Its structure remains unknown. Radium bromide has been used for skin complaints such as acne, moles, skin, cancer, eczema, dermatitis, and acne–rosacea. It is also used in research projects but is not offered for sale to the general public.
Chemical Properties
White crystals, becoming yellow or pink, radioactive. Soluble in water and alcohol.
Uses
Radium bromide (RaBr2) is a source of radiation for treating cancer and for research in the field of physics.
Uses
Medicine (cancer treatment), physical research.
Hazard
As for radium.
