Description
An Alstonia alkaloid, this base occurs in the bark of A. venenata R. Br. and has[α]24D - 76.07°. The hydriodide has m.p. 255-7°C (dec.); the picrate, m.p. 243° (dec.); the methiodide, m.p. 285-2900 C (dec.) and the O-acetate, m.p. 98-101°C (dec.). A methoxyl group, a non-phenolic hydroxyl group and a methoxycarbonyl group are present.
