Uses

2,3-Di(4-pyridyl)-2,3-butanediol (dpb) may be employed for the preparation of mercury(II) coordination polymers.

General Description

2,3-Di(4-pyridyl)-2,3-butanediol (dpb) participates as a ligand in the preparation of IB (group 11) metal thiocyanate based coordination polymers. Post synthetic modification of Zn-based 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4′-carboxyphenyl) benzene, 2,3-di(4-pyridyl)-2,3-butanediol pillared metal organic framework (MOF) with lithium or magnesium ions has been reported to increase the affinity and uptake of hydrogen.
