Methylene iodide-13C,d2 Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Diiodomethane-13C,d2 is the isotope labelled analog of Diiodomethane (D455255); a compound that is widely used as a reagent for cyclopropanation in the Simmons-Smith reaction with a Zn-Cu couple. Diiodomethane also undergoes photolysis, and if in the presence of olefins, will yield cyclopropanes with high stereospecificity.
