Uses

Ferrous sulfate nonahydrate can be used as a water purifier, a desulfurizing agent for coal, an engraving agent for aluminum, a pigment, biodiesel, ink, a disinfectant, a catalyst, and a mordant. It is used as an electrolyte in iron-chromium redox flow batteries. It is also used as an electrolyte in zinc-nickel-iron alloy plating and zinc-iron-cobalt alloy plating. Furthermore, it can be used as an oxidizing agent in gold and silver production; and as a remediation agent for soil contaminated with heavy metal arsenic.

Application

Water treatment plants use ferric sulfate nonahydrate as a substitute for polyaluminum chloride. Ferric sulfate nonahydrate is a highly efficient, fast-acting, and adaptable water purification product. It can replace aluminum salts in tap water treatment to disinfect residual aluminum contamination. Therefore, ferric sulfate nonahydrate can completely replace polyaluminum chloride, and the treated water meets national drinking water standards.
