dibromsalan Usage And Synthesis
Physical properties
Dibromsalan is very sparingly soluble in water, sparingly soluble in ethanol, and soluble in acetone and dimethylformamide.
Uses
Disinfectant.
Uses
Dibromsalan has broad antimicrobial activity but its use as a microbicide in, e.g., paper and plastics is declining.
Production Methods
Dibromsalan is produced from salicylanilide and bromine in acetic acid.
Hazard
Its LD50 (oral, mouse) is 1700 mg/kg; photosensitization of the skin is possible.
