Chemical Properties
Extraction is performed either via concrete or by adsorption method. It has an intensely sweet, green-floral, but somewhat sharp and at first unpleasant odor. Also see Hyacinth
Physical properties
The absolute is a reddish-brown or dark-brown to greenish-brown, viscous liquid.
Occurrence
Found in the flowers of Hyacinthus orientalis L. (Fam. Liliaceae) and related species (Guenther. 1952).
Preparation
By alcoholic extraction of the concrete (Fenarolfs Handbook of Flavor Ingredients, 1975).
