Strontium tristannide Chemical Properties,Usage,Production
Description
Strontium tristannide, SrSn3, shows a transition to the superconducting state at 5.4 K and SrSn4 at 4.8 K. SrSn3 crystallizes in the Mg3In-type, which consists of distorted hexagonal layers with AB3 composition, similar to the above structure. In addition, a Zintl compound composed of SrSn3·SrSb4 has been synthesized and its structure has been determined by singlecrystal XRD methods. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space groupdPnma with a = 10.060 ? , b = 4.361 ? , c = 22.934 ? , and Z =4 at 22°C. The structure of Sr2Sn3Sb4 may be described as consisting of large, narrow channels running along [010] defined by 30- membered rings constructed from an anionic framework of linked SnSb4 tetrahedra, SnSb3 trigonal pyramids, and zigzag Sb–Sb chains. Sr2+ cations are situated within these channels.
